Stand by the King
Stand by the King
A Study on Revelation 1-7
Revelation 2-3
describes 7 Churches below is the breakdown of each:
1.
A Loyal Church
2:3-5
2.
A Suffering
Church 2:9-10
3.
A Compromising
Church 2:13-16
4.
An Overly
Tolerant Church 2:19-26
5.
A Dead Church
3:2-5
6.
A Weak but Obedient
Church 3:8-10
7.
A Lukewarm and
uncommitted Church 3:15-16
These represent not
only the 7 Churches in the writer’s time but also 7 States of Christians. We
can all identify with at least one of these representing us as a Christian. The
two things that Jesus said repeatedly in these passages is this, “I know all the things you do…” “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the
Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.” He pointed out
each of the churches good qualities along with any bad qualities that the
churches needed to take care of. As referred to in Rev. 3:19; also see (Prov.
3:12, 1 Cor. 11:32; Heb. 12:6). Out of
these 7 the one that stood out to me was the 6th as a great role
model for each of us to be like. That was the only one with no bad qualities!
The worst state to be in is like #5. To all the churches he says: repent, turn
back to me quickly, and hold on to your faith.
Chapter 4: Worship in
Heaven
“You are worthy, O Lord
our God, to receive glory and honor and power.
For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.” Rev. 4:11

Chapter 5: The Lamb
Opens the Scroll
And they sang in a
mighty chorus: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered—
to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and blessing.” And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: “Blessing and honor and glory and power
belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.” Rev. 5:12-13

Chapter 6: Six Seals Broken-
Seal 1-4 The four riders represent the destructive,
senseless world.
Seal 1: white horse: war, victory won- human depravity
Seal 2: red horse: peace taken, war & slaughter everywhere
on the earth
Seal 3: black horse: social & economic imbalance
with scales
Seal 4: pale green horse: death-1/4th of
the earth
Seal 5: Christian Martyrs and their question
Seal 6: God’s judgment
Chapter 7: “Wait! Don’t harm the
land or the sea or the trees until we have placed the seal of God on the
foreheads of his servants.” “And they were shouting with a great roar,
“Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne
and from the Lamb!” They sang,
“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and
thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and
ever! Amen.” That is why they stand in front of God’s throne
and serve him day and night in his Temple. And he who sits on the throne will give them shelter.
They will never again be hungry or thirsty; they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.
For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water.
And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
