Self-control, anger, depression

Sins of the flesh must be surrendered to Christ. Weak in the flesh, tired from sinning; I cry out to Jesus asking Him to take over. “I surrender God! I am useless without you. I need you more than I need to have control, anger and depression. I want more of you than of me, so I must step aside and let you live more in me. Help me to overcome, surrender, and to see how you plan for me to live in victory. I’ve got to wash this sin away one more day, one more hour, I’ve got to let it go and give into your presence if I ever want to live a life worth eternity. So, I’m giving it all to you once again, I’m giving into you, in hope to be free, to be free of me.”

What sins are you dealing with? Which ones way you down like heavy chains? These are strongholds that must be dealt with head on. They will not leave easily when you’ve been carrying them around for so long. Prayer, discipline, and fasting will help and determination to live for Christ and die to self-daily. You can do it as I know that I can too. With Jesus each day, keeping our eyes on Him and the eternal prize we can live in victory! Amen

Money will Fade Away

"The hot sun rises and the grass withers; the little flower droops and falls, and its beauty fades away. In the same way, the rich will fade away with all of their achievements." James 1:11

Money will fade away and all the happiness it promised to give the receiver most likely gone with it. All material wealth is temporary and can not be contained. That's why the Word says this: "Believers who are poor have something to boast about, for God has honored them. And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them. They will fade away like a flower in the field." James 1:9-10

Why should the poor boast that God has honored them? What honor is there in being poor? While the rich are busy planning their next vacation or big purchase the poor have more time to build their character and grow spiritually in the fruit of the spirit and with this their's no regrets. When we have more physically we tend to be too distracted to spend the time needed with God to grow spiritually. We shouldn't spend all of our time thinking about gaining or earning more money that should not be are passion for living because that describes a worldly person who is seeking "success" defined by Forbes magazine. We as Christians should be basing are achievements by what the Word of God says. right?

"Dear Brothers and Sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask Him be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do." James 1:2-8

It is a typical wordly trap to think that you can have financial success and be free of debt. How are you going to be happy without that big house, the newest cars, the yacht, country club membership, and all the parties? If you want true happiness it comes from contentment within, not a lot of stuff around you. I had an addiction to shopping on line. I would do it because I was bored and would just do it because I could. That spending added up really quickly and we tried the Dave Ramsey envelope system and he says pay it off quickly and do whatever it takes to erase your debt; well to me putting God first and my family was more important and so we decided that a better more Godly system would be to continue making our monthly payments and pay a little more on the ones that are closest to being payed off. That's been working because it doesn't take away from  my family and it doesn't drive me insane trying to just pay it off, pay it off. Getting in debt took time, but most likely not as much time as it's going to take to pay it off and stay out of debt. We've got to address the root of the problem and solve that problem. For me it was redirecting my attention to what's important: my family, not more stuff and then sticking to a budget and not using credit cards or getting any more loans no matter what! That's working for us.

Held in Captivity

"So, I say let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you want be doing what your sinful nature craves." Galatians 5:16 Alot of christians are leaving the holy spirit out of their walks, they are like the israelites held in captivity by the babylons, their hearts have grown cold, and they are self-righteous in their religious ways but do not know the voice of the Lord and do not practice what they preach in private, they have a secret life which is not pleasing to God and is only bringing pleasure to their flesh. Read Jeremiah 27-29 in full to see the state or our nation and our people even today.

"If you look for me wholeheartedly you will find me." Jeremiah 29:13
"Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit." Romans 8:5 Read all of Romans 8-10 for a thorough understanding of what the Lord is saying as He showed me this morning my people are in captivity by their own thoughts, by their lack of devotion to me, by not participating in the Lords Supper in our church we are not unified but many are following the God's of this world and putting God on hold.
1 Corinthians 11:23-30 The Lords Supper

"What is important is faith expressing itself in love." We are given freedom not to sin against God and each other but to extend God's hand of grace given to us to everyone else, "we are to use our freedom to serve on another in love." Galatians 5:6, 13

Happiness with Contentment is True Wealth

Got Happiness?
it's only temporary without the foundation which is contentment.

Happiness with contentment is true wealth. We could all benefit from being more content with where we are and what we have. Is it just me or do we always want something else on that perfect salad or pizza? It's so easy to see what's missing from our life instead of devouring what we have and enjoying every bite.

Learn with me what Philippians 4:11 says about this, "for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. 12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength."
