Dress Code Required (for Woman)
Dress Code Required:
12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:12-15
Tenderhearted mercy ,kindness, humility, gentleness, patience
And Most importantly: Love
God isn’t nearly concerned with the righteous religious acts of Christians as we are. His concerns are of the heart, the spirit, and the soul. If we would be half as busy dressing ourselves with the above than worrying about if our hair is stylish, our make-up is perfect, and our clothes are cute than we would be available for so much more good. There are Christians who have tooken certain scriptures and made them a must for anyone that’s going to attend their church making them doctrine such as: wearing a head-covering (1 Cor. 11), wearing modest clothing means a woman and girls must wear dresses and skirts all the way to the ankles with the arms being covered at least to the elbow and shirts being no lower than the collar bone (1 Peter 3, 1 Timothy 2).
I have been studying these views and scriptures recently and was almost convinced that I needed to wear a head-covering and wear only dresses and skirts instead of jeans and shorts but then I prayed and I asked God to direct my steps and give me His will and His wisdom and so I continue to wear shorts, and jeans but what he’s taught me is important is my attitude am I trying to attract attention to myself through my clothing this would be sinful being a Christian woman. I wear size 12 jeans and shorts I also have a size 14 jeans which are good for when I need them a little looser on those days if you know what I mean. My jeans are not skin tight they are comfortable fitting and I don’t feel convicted that they are sinful or displeasing to God. A good second counsel would be to ask my husband and he will let me know if my shirt is too revealing or not. We do have a responsibility to dress in a proper manner so as not to be attracting men to our bodies. Trust me theirs men that will still stare at you no matter what you are wearing, I just flash them the marriage ring and keep on walking. As far as my personal study and conviction of wearing a head-covering that was a popular and accepted practice back then but today it would not be; the covering we need is a spiritual humility and submission to God first and if we are married to our husband that can be seen by God and the angels and is pleasing to Him.
I personally think that young girls shouldn’t be wearing a lot of makeup or dressing like grown-ups and wearing high heel shoes; there’s just no reason for that in my opinion. I use to wear high heels and tight fitted clothes when I was a teenager and young woman but I have tried to wear even small heels and they are just not comfortable to me so I don’t wear them at all. Small, subtle heels are okay, huge 4 inch heels I think are inappropriate for Christian woman because of what they symbolize in our own culture and society, sleeveless shirts also are just showing way too much skin and it’s naturally going to make you a target for any guys eyes and we don’t want that attention so we can wear a t-shirt that is just as comfortable and practical without showing of armpits, and cleavage. For me having bigger breast I make sure that I am properly covered on my chest. I only wear sports bras and so a lot of times I wear a sleeveless or spaghetti strap shirt underneath my more conservative shirt which I just make sure my armpits and upper arms are covered most of my summer shirts are way above my elbow, size large and plenty of coverage for my chest not to be showing. I wear an XL sports bra, these in my opinion are most comfortable and breathable. But, really whatever works for you and that isn’t increasing the cleavage but making it conservative. Woman of the world want to push their breast up and make them bigger always than they are so it makes sense that we would be doing the opposite, we can’t make them smaller but we can cover them in a modest way. Jewelry is also mentioned in the bible and I do wear very minimal jewelry most of the time maybe none or just a necklace or pair of earrings, simple not bulky or flashy and 80% of the time I don’t wear makeup it’s just not necessary to make me feel pretty. Again it’s up to you and what your personal conviction is on that but I’d say seek God on all these matters in prayer and reading the Word so that you can grow in Godliness and wisdom.
Now for the things we are not to clothes ourselves with: “So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. 6 Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.7 You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. 8 But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. 9 Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.
10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. 11 In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.”
